ELOPEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY ON THE DANISH WEST COAST CAPTURES REAL MOMENTS BETWEEN THE DUNES AND THE SEA

When love takes over, even the sky cannot deny it.

I had the pleasure of photographing Tanja from Germany and Chase from the USA at Henne Strand after their ceremony at the old town hall in Varde.

After their intimate wedding in Denmark, the two wanted to celebrate this day once more – quietly, freely, and authentically – just the two of them, the sea, the sand, and the setting sun. From the very first moment I felt it: this was not about staged, perfect scenes, but about true love. Every glance, every gesture spoke of deep familiarity. Every moment proved that distance knows no boundaries when two hearts find their way to each other.

Atmosphere & Emotions at Henne Strand

The atmosphere was relaxed, warm, and filled with laughter.

Tanja radiated in her flowing dress, Chase smiled tenderly – and together we walked barefoot along the shoreline.

There was no strict timeline, no staging: just moments unfolding naturally while the sun slowly painted the sky in gold and soft pink.

It was the quiet, deep connection between them that brought every image to life.

Between walks, embraces, and a dance on the beach, we created a visual diary of their love – authentic, intimate, and full of joy.

Laughter, Embraces and Pure Joy

What made this evening unforgettable was the effortless way they were with each other:

contagious laughter,
tender glances that said everything,
small moments of joyful freedom.

We discovered hidden dunes, let the wind guide us, and danced barefoot in the sand. No rush, no pressure – just joy, love, and the present moment.

Two Shores, One Heart

The sun dipped low, the sky aflame,

Two hearts whispered softly each other’s name.

Between the dunes, their laughter flew,

A love so tender, forever true.

Fingers intertwined, footprints in sand,

No distance, no borders could ever command.

The ocean sang, the wind held their song,

A quiet place where they truly belong.

Eyes that speak what words cannot,

Moments fleeting, yet forever caught.

A gentle kiss, a shared sigh,

Beneath the canvas of the painted sky.

Two souls, one evening, a lifetime to start,

A dance of freedom, a joining of hearts.

And when the waves kissed the shore anew,

It carried a promise: “Always me and you.”

Love Without Borders: Tanja and Chase’s Intimate DESTINATION Wedding ELOPEMENT in Denmark

A binational couple shares their story

Tell us your love story – how did you meet and what brought you together?

We met on the dating app Bumble. Honestly, at first we both just wanted to spend an evening together. But after exchanging a few messages, we realized there was a very special connection between us. We talked on the phone for hours, sent voice messages, and kept discovering more and more things we had in common.
Chase spontaneously booked two nights at a hotel and picked me up from work. In the car he held my hand – as if we had already been together forever.
On our first evening we went out for dinner, but the food was almost untouched. We simply sat there, hand in hand, looking deeply into each other’s eyes and completely lost track of time. The waiters seemed amused at first – and later a bit nervous because they were closing the restaurant.
For us, in those hours, only our own little world existed.

When did you know you were meant for each other?

As it turned out, that first night we didn’t even need to say a word. The feeling was stronger than anything we had ever experienced before. The outside world disappeared, and it was clear: this was something special.

What is the one thing you love most about each other?

It’s not about nationality, accents, or differences – it’s about what’s in the heart and mind. We are in a long-distance relationship, and that isn’t always easy. But because of that, we’ve learned to be honest with each other, to be open, and to consciously nurture our love.
In many ways we are similar, but in some ways we are opposites. And that’s exactly what makes it exciting. We have both loved deeply with our whole hearts – and that connects us in a way nothing else can.

Why did you choose an elopement instead of a big wedding celebration?

Honestly, we both had our dream wedding in mind. But at that time it simply wasn’t financially possible anymore. Instead of waiting forever, we decided to just go for it.
Looking back, it was the best decision we could have made.
The day belonged entirely to us – no plans, no big expectations, just love and a few wonderful people we shared it with.

How did you decide on Denmark as your wedding destination – and Varde in particular?

We had heard that Denmark is often called the “Las Vegas of Europe” because it’s so easy to get married there, especially for international couples. We didn’t want months of paperwork – we simply wanted to begin our life together.
We actually didn’t choose Varde ourselves. Our wedding agency had already made a booking there for another couple, and we were able to take their spot. Today we are endlessly grateful for that, because our life together began in Varde.

What do international couples need in order to marry in Denmark?

First, we needed valid passports. Then proof that we are actually a couple – photos, flight reservations, chat histories, video calls. We even included screenshots of online purchases (that was our little joke, haha). And of course proof that we are both single.

Were there any legal hurdles – and how did you overcome them?

Not at all. It was easier than expected. That’s exactly why Denmark is perfect for international couples.

Did you work with an agency or planner?

Yes – simply because we didn’t want to make any mistakes. The agency helped us with the paperwork and also reserved the appointment in Varde. That gave us a lot of peace of mind.

How long does it take to plan an elopement in Denmark?

Once the paperwork is done, it can happen quite quickly – sometimes within just a few weeks. The main effort is dealing with the authorities. Everything else – lunch, the photoshoot – was spontaneous and easy.

Tanja, where did you get your outfit?

I wore an outfit from “Herz und Seele by Laura” in Germany. It consisted of two pieces – a top and a skirt. That way I can wear the pieces again later, which suits my practical memory very well.

What was it like waking up on your wedding day?

It felt like a dream. Tanja woke Chase up with our song “Accidentally in Love” from the Shrek movie. Everything felt light, joyful, and full of gratitude.

Was there a moment you will never forget?

The photoshoot on the beach. Not just because it was beautiful, but because it was filled with so much love and fun that we enjoyed every single moment.

What was it like being in front of the camera?

We immediately felt comfortable because Angelie is so warm and easygoing. She simply let us be ourselves – laughing, joking, hugging. The photos turned out incredibly authentic.

What are your favorite photos?

Today it’s the photo on the wooden boardwalk with the prosecco – pure happiness. Tomorrow it might be another one.
